At the Subcon show LMS Precision not only made contact with potential customers, managing director Roger Street also took the opportunity to size up some of the equipment on offer in the manufacturing equipment and materials (MEM) zone. As a result, on the second day of the show he decided to buy an Axiom Too co-ordinate measuring machine from fellow exhibitor Aberlink.

The Axiom Too has a 640mm by 500mm capacity and complements machine tools at LMS from technology leaders such as Nakamura Tome and Matsuura. These includes CNC sliding head lathes, CNC 2-axis lathes, CNC multi-axis twin spindle twin turret lathes and a CNC automatic gantry loading lathe – plus vertical and horizontal CNC machining centres.

Says Roger Street: “We already had a two-axis optical measuring system which had served us very well and our existing customers know that we do a good job. But when you are trying to attract new business prospective customers want to know how you are going to ensure that you deliver on quality – the Axiom Too answers their questions and completes our inspection setup.”

He is hoping that it will be in heavy demand, adding: “We are quoting on a lot of enquiries from the Subcon show and hope that this will lead to new business for us.”
