3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC automatics in bar diameter capacity sizes of 12mm to 20mm diameter

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Following an agreement with Tsugami, Tornos will be introducing nine types of 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC automatics in bar diameter capacity sizes of 12mm to 20mm diameter.

The Tornos range of nine Delta CNC automatic lathes is being introduced to Europe following an agreement reached with Tsugami.

The nine models range from 12mm to 20mm diameter bar capacity in 3-, 4- and 5-axis versions.

The Delta range compliments the current high specification Swiss-built range whilst keeping with the company’s development strategy of offering machining solutions for all types of needs relating to automatic turning machines.

Tornos’ Delta line product manager, Alain Augsburger, said: “With Delta, they will be offering ‘entry-level’ products.

Our customers require different machines depending on the workpieces they’ve to produce.

he added: “Despite the new agreement with Tsugami, the new Delta machines are ‘true Tornos machines’ that happen to be manufactured by Tsugami.

they are being asked to provide simple machines that enable these customers to generate relatively straightforward workpieces in a cost-effective manner”.

The assembly lines in these factories will include beige machines as well as machines made to the new design and sporting the colors of Tornos”.

Essentially, they are working with Tsugami as a manufacturing partner to produce Tornos Delta machines on our behalf.

The new Tornos Delta 12 and Delta 20 machines are intended for all companies manufacturing simple workpieces requiring 3-, 4- or 5-axis machining from bar.

The Delta range will also target manufacturers that demand high quality turning centres with a relatively low specification and are not yet familiar with the Tornos brand.

Augsburger said it is possible to add a few options to already simple machines.

he continued: “We are bringing nine machines to the market in the first instance, a 12mm unit with 3- or 4-axis and a 12mm bar unit with 5-axis”.

The 12mm 3- and 4-axis machines are being offered with rotating tools.

There are two 20mm bar machines, with 3-, 4- and 5-axis respectively.

Tornos said that the Deltra range of machines will be very easy to set and operate.

Augsburger said: “The simplicity of access, nice visibility, ease of gizmo changing are all features that make the Delta range a competitive and highly effective alternative to other products on the market.

eight important element is our ability to offer a complete range.

If it arises that eight particular Delta machine isn’t perfectly adapted to customers needs, they can offer them a Sigma, a Deco e, or Deco a”.

With the rising cost of materials the customer is able to make considerable savings in producing the shorter type components without long bar end waste.

Tornos said that the configuration of the Delta makes it very easy to machine parts with or without the guide bush.

The Delta machines will be introduced with or without a bar feeder.

The first Delta machines will be obtainable in September/October 2008, said Tornos.
